Senior Mechanic Engineer



Principal Accountabilities:

The jobholder is accountable for all areas of engineering. This will include particularly:

  • Manage and coordinate all Projects in compliance with group operational and HSSE standards;
  • Manage the Engineering interface in VE depots and third party depots network
  • T&R and Capex preparation, benchmarking and technical studies.
  • Collecting data on the current status of Asset Management in Burkina.
  • Maintain high level of asset integrity and to lead new project in a safe and timely manner.
  • Support the Definition & application of appropriate technology for Burkina Faso Supply & Distribution and B2B including automation, plant control systems, tank gauging, product measurement, truck loading etc.
  • Develop depot automation strategies, oversee implementation program
  • Planning and implementation of the work necessary for compliance with the Group Global Environmental Standards (GEMS)
  • Support Asset Integrity initiatives   Tank, Pipeline & Jetty Integrity programs; firefighting assessments
  • Act as a focal point for all technical standards, regulation and best practices.
  • Benchmark internal engineering deliveries to market best in class service/cost.
  • Manage all HSSE matters in line with VE policy and guidelines (HSSE MS) and ensure awareness of and compliance with VE safety standards and requirements.  Stimulate and support change toward proactive HSSE culture.
  • Prepare Contract Board Strategies and tender documents for Request for Quotations
  • Manage Contracts for Projects execution
  • Understand the activity, business and needs of contractors, provide sound information and advice, and negotiate win-win solutions
  • Support building an effective Engineering/Maintenance team between Engineering and depots to maximize opportunities for resource sharing and identification of best practice
  • Drafts B2B maintenance plan in line with the asset management
  • Optimize maintenance and capex  cost
  • Identifies and captures opportunities for improvement in equipment maintainability and reliability.
  • Participates in technical audits and compliance assessments, and follows up on closure of remedial action plans.
  • Participate in contractor's pre-qualifications and ensure HSSE compliance
  • Liaison with local procurement for the proper tendering & purchase of engineering goods & services; as well finance for proper invoicing & payment of contractors & purchases; 
  • Other:
    • This position is an HSSE critical position. The incumbent is:
    • member of the S&D Leadership Team and S&D crisis team
    • a frequent business driver (more than 7500 km/year)
    • a contract holder

 Job Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

  • Degree in any Engineering discipline
  • At least 8 years experience in Maintenance, Project Management related to Distribution plant and/or Asset Management
  • Experience in a Distribution or Refining environment would be desirable
  • Fluency in English would be an added advantage
  • Ability to deliver on time and against budget
  • HSSE experience
  • Ability to lead teams, to motivate and coach
